Spending too much tbh, go for what Johns posted, tbh spending anything over £900 is too much, it usually hits the wall of 'in 6 months it will be worth £300 less' category..but definitely don't spend any more than that mate.

K

Antec Sonata III w/ 500W psu: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128045 £75.99
A MOTHERBOARD (Check reviews for which chipset is good) about £40
C2D E6550 OEM http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142894 £99.99
A cooler of your choice £30
Corsair XMS2 2x2GB RAM http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142433 £70
9800 GTX http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143065 £186.81
Samsung 500GB http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130454 £49.99
A dvd rewriter of some description, £20

Will bring you the sunny side of £600, giving you over £400 to invest, save, or whatever, to spend on upgrading it in 2 years time when it might just start to struggle with games. Believe it or not is is possible to spend too much on a processor.

but couldnt he just switch out that graphics card for this one

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142980

and have just the one graphics card with dual core to it? and it will b one less thing to upgrade... and its only around 200 more... which imo... is worth it...

something like that is only worth it if you're trying 1900x1200 screen or something at 4xAA 8xAF....which if you want, sure, splash out £400 on a graphics card for. My 7900GT runs COD 4 1680 x 1050 no AA and trilinear filtering and it looks lovely...and that's a two year old graphics card. You get what you pay for, and £200 will give you adequate performance for _at least_ two years.

I foresee that I'll be spending £100-£150 every two years on graphics cards...and get consistent performance. If you spend £400 now, in two years time you'll have to spend another £400 to get the same performance OR you'll have to wait four years to make it cheaper, in which time your graphics quality will drop from amazing to good. It depends on how much money you've got to spend. And having money in savings is never a bad thing.
