New in WinZip 11.0 Beta
Allow WinZip to Select "Best Compression" Automatically Make the most of the improved compression methods by letting WinZip decide for you which method to use.
Zip .wav Music Files A special algorithm will compress .wav files smaller than ever.
.BZ2 and .RAR File Support (Extract Only) Open .BZ2 and .RAR files.
Configure the Job Wizard to Email Reports and Zip Files Automatically (Pro only) Now the Job Wizard can send you an email to confirm whether a scheduled job completed successfully or alert you of problems. You can also configure the Job Wizard to email the resulting Zip file and/or the Job's log file.
View Thumbnails within WinZip If you have any images in a Zip file you can now browse through them viewing the thumbnails without first extracting the images from the Zip file. This makes it a lot easier and quicker to work with images in Zip files.
View Full-size Images with WinZip's New Image Viewer (Pro Only) If you need a closer look, sometimes a thumbnail just won't do. Now you can view images without manually extracting the image from the Zip file.
Download WinZip 11.0 Beta (Build 7291)

zip's wav's !! Is that with or without lossy compression??? Surely something as monumental as this would have had more fanfare unless all that simply happens is that detailed data is lost on Winzip's discretion? ie they have developed a save and load only (ie not read) audio compression format. I can't see how they could minimise the size of an Audio file and then reconstitute it when unzipped.
am i being a n00b ? more confident on the audio side than pc's tbh.
Anyone clued up???
nb
44.1 khz 16 bit CD quality WAV > zipped wav > 44.1 Khz 16 bit wav?? Surely not

Actually theres a distinct diffrence between resampling and compressing, with resampling you lose something and with compression when uncompressed you get the original file back exactly as it was when it went in (note the 'new algorithm' comment under it). It may be likley that the winzip people have just noticed some pattern in the raw data which they can exploit in wav files.

At least they've finally put .rar extraction in there. It's the main reason I don't use winzip, I don't like having too many utilities on my computer.
