Post subject:  Sound Cards

Atm i'm using my on-board sound but want to upgrade. I listen to music quite a bit on my PC, but i'll really be buying it for gaming. I've read that nothing can beat creative cards in the gaming field. Is this true?

Am looking to spend around 60ish pounds so which card would you recomend? Cheers

Hmmm there are two creative X-Fi cards there, there's the one you suggested and this one http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/127030. Which one would be better think this one is 7.1 but i only have 5.1 speakers. There both the same price which seems strange!

I have the Audigy 4 too. Save some bucks from the x-fi and buy something else.

i cant fit one in my pc due to wires coming out of the psu blocking the use of my pci slots. do the usb ones give much improvement over onboard?

my onboard is really really good anyways, and would prolly drop if used a usb one. so really depends on what mobo you got and what usb thing you get.

I have headphones that come with a usb soundcard, an the sound qualities excellent, the main advantage though is that I dont have to keep plugging in a headphone and unplug the speakers from the tangle of wires at the back of the pc, th headphone just goes in a front USB and sorts itself out.
