fantastic choices there 8)

only thing I would say is...look at the 965 mobos instead of the 975 - they're cheaper and better (according to tomshardware.co.uk)...and if you save money you might be able to bump up the graphics to a 640 mb

Work have a new Windows XP professional sitting about.....bagged it already.

have 2 GB Ram at home.

parts being delivered tomorrow at work, my fellow director used to have his own business building PC's years ago in South Africa. If I get stuck someone will be at hand to pass me a hammer....

I was thkinking of getting myself one of these : hxxp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... 11&subcat=

I wouldnt use on board sound as the cpu has to do most of the donkey work (ie the on baord sound is majority software codec with a lil hardware) seperate cards have on bouard sound processors that do the hard work so your cpu dosent have to.. :)

Also check the reviews on the ocuk site above, about all the people that went from onboard sound to this card :)

i've never been sure whether to do that before or after i dunk the card in hot sugary tea :? actually, it can be a good way of drying the tea off, so definitely do the rub last.

Home superconducting?

hxttp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprod ... 11&subcat=

That soundcards about £20 less, and in the test in custom pc, it had about 1-2fps difference only when the game was maxed or almost at max' on graphics settings.

I have a soundacrd in my new one, just becuase as Arma says it uses some of the CPU for processing, plus I tend to use the pc as a media centre as well.
The other thing is for the thirty odd quid I paid for it, I thought might as well get it now, rather than having to reach under my desk, unplug all the wires, fiddle inside case etc, hassle.

edit.
Actually the test was between a stock x-fi music, abnd the fatality version, so mebbe there is a big difference.

Also I'd be more tempted by the 965 chipset as well.
