can i have some advice and recommendations please. my dad's 60th in a few weeks and this is the only present he's hinted he may be interested in, cost would be split 7 ways mum will pay 50%, and us 6 children would pay at least £60 each to make about £800..which i think is a typical price of an HD camera.. |

i wouldnt know which one to buy but i would say to buy a decent make (sony ect) rather than a cheaper no namer brand.i think the difference in quality would be worth spendind the extra. |

personally id go for tape due to unlimited recording potential, dvd's arnt suitable for hd content until they release camera's with blu ray recording. HDD's are good but provide no potential for upgrading, once its full u have to delete, end of story. personally i like this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-HDR-HC7-De ... 136&sr=1-3 a tape HD sony camera with a nice big screen, a carl zeiss lense and general high grade Sony build quality. http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct. ... ry=HDD+HDV |

HDMI ? if so .. there is like a HDMI adapter? as my t.v. has HD input but its not HDMI socket. im thinking that tape is the way foward... because my dad will be a bit useless with uploading content to pc... also he will want it for holidays. |

Some advice, I have a SONY HDD camcorder its great - 30 gig memory enough for hours of filming - once full just dump onto PC and burn DVD or stream to TV. In regards to Hi Def it seems there are not many video editing packages that handle Hi Def so be careful. Also if you buy a HDD HiDef camcorder remember that you will need a HD burner and HD player for viewings. As at some point you would fill the HDD of the camcorder. Unless you stream from a PC to a media box / TV For a full rundown on all camcorders this is the font of all knowledge. What you need to know is in here : http://www.camcorderinfo.com/ Good Luck |
