might be building a new pc so i have a few questions. :)

core2 duo or amd am2x2
ati or nvidia

ive always prefered pentium and ati but which chip is better?i know nvidia have dx10 so is it worth while waiting for ati to release a dx10 card?

cheers

C2D all the way baby - get the 6300 and a decent cooler and overclockage ftw

As for graphics cards - sure, see what comes out, but it depends on your budget (8x00 will be cheaper than x12x00) and timescale.

I will go for Core2Duo 6300 (6400 or 6600 if you can spend more money) about graphic card i am using nvidia Quadro FX1400, just becuase it is much better with 3d software. For gaming i know they are both good, so depends for what you need and of course how much you can spend :D

I have maxxed out all settings on my 8800GTS playing HL2, including 8xaa, 16xAF, they wont go any higher and at 1680x1050 im getting about 110 fps on the HDR maps, looks v nice as well.

They will be releasing a cheaper version of the 8800GTS soon that has half the memory.

But dont count on installing Vista as Nvidia have 'officially' released beta drivers so they don't look like numpties who couldn't get the drivers out for the vista launch even though the cards been out for 2 months and they've known about Vista for how long!!!

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 overclocked to 2.56 GHz
Seasonic S12 500W
Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650

The Asus board has its ups and down but has been very stable although you have to set memory timings manuall as it balls them up. Most of Asus's latest boards seem to have this problem.

All the above cost me 770 quid
