e6600 cost me £204 and overclocks like a bitch......on standard air the most i can get is 3600mhz 8)

when i get my new water cooler or phase change (not made my mind up yet,or have the money...lol) ill be able to get 4000mhz with my mobo.

so for the price difference you would have been better off with the e6600.your paying an extra £118 for a difference of 270mhz.

My mobo supports that high for my CPU, but I have teh E6400. Wonder how well that'll overclock. o.o

Any pointers when overclocking? How many volts, mhz etc to go up by? Bus speed etc?

I have the Zalman 9500LED Fan on my CPU and currently runs at 48C when under load. When not under load it runs at 32-35C. Fan is connected to motherboard power, not the PSU directly. That can be arranged though :D

EDIT: Also, sweet PC. I'm jelous you managed to only pay £1077.

The only thing you have better than mine is I have the 8800GTS OC @550MHz, PSU is 110W above mine (I bought Enermax) and the CPU is better than mine. I paid £1030, somethin like that. > <

what mobo and ram you got mate?

oh and i get 3400 mhz not 3600.its to hot @ 3600.

my best 3d mark '06 score - 11806.thats on stock air and it seems to be the most im gonna get until i get better cooling.

before you start i would download intel thermal analysis tool to measure your temps, mobo readings are inaccurate.also a program called cpu-z.
in cpu-z under cpu > clocks (core 0).you multiplier is locked and this is the number by which your FSB will be multiplied.so if you set your FSB to 300 your gonna get a cpu speed of 2700mhx.im not sure if your cpu is locked to 8 or 9 but you will soon find out with cpu-z.your ram will auto asjust to you FSB.i had to play around with my bios to get my ram at the same speed as my FSB and at the right timings.

as for gfx you can use ntune or a program called riva tuner (i use riva tuner).basically up your core speed bit by bit each time do a benchmark and take note of the score,core/mem speeds.once your score drops then you should use ur last setting as the max.do the same with the mem speed.once you have the best score you can @ max core/mem that will be your max oc...make sure you turn your fan on 100%.i dont think you gpu should go above 70c.ive seen ppl hit 80 and not worry.

i think thats about it,ill read through it again later and add anything i can think of. :)

your timings are spot on.take a ss of your cpu in cpu-z. :)

you want to get your FSB:DRAM @ 1:1

in bios if you set your FSB to 300 your DRAM will be 600mhz.that will give you a 1:1 ratio.mean your cpu and ram are working at the same speed.

also if you oc your cpu and it becomes unstable or you get the blue screen of death/crashes then try upping the voltage.keep a close eye onh the temps as mine shoot up when i up the voltage.i wouldnt go over 1.5 on air.

:)

hope this makes sense...lol

What temp should I start to worry at when under load? About 55-60? Higher/Lower? o.o

And whatcha mean take a SS off my CPU-Z?

EDIT: Nevermind, I'll do it now. XD

Left one is CPU Core#1 Right is CPU Core#2

Just incase you didn't realise, I doubt you wouldn't miss it. >.>

They do go up to 2133.33MHz when under load and the Voltage rises to pull them up. Only by about 0.13v? Something like that. Ignore the right ones Core Speed, I think it's where I had just loaded the second one.

i try not to let it go over 60c.

how did you open up both cores? yes im a noob

i would have thought the multipliers and volts would be the same on both cores.

as for the volts i go up in the smallest amount it will let me.

Uhhh~ make a shortcut and add

Code:
 -core=1

to the end of the shortcut.

And my cores aren't different, lol. It's just a buggy thingy. Usually with both cores they have the same volts and core speed etc.
