Ok so my music goes insanely loud when I use my speakers, but as soon as I put my earphones / headphones in it just doesn't go loud enough (I need it to be loud enough to drown out my brothers crap). Do I need more expensive earphones / headphones? Or is it a new soundcard? Or am I just screwed.. |

try using different headphones and i will leave it to you to weigh up the option of new headphones or soundcard Q. whats with the '123' and firefox/ebuyer in your sound options is that a 'special' thing with vista? |

Yea vista allows you to turn down volume for programs you've loaded up, so if something lame is playing in Firefox and I want to listen to my music, I can mute it, or if someone's wasted on Vent and I cba to mute on that, I'd do it using sound menu like in the screenie There is little benefit of having Vista over XP, however this is an example of one. |

I'd say its your headphones. I had no problems with mine until now that they're dropping sound completely (loose wire) but the sound is also a lot lower than before. It could be your sound card too but I'd say try some headphones first. |
