ps3 -> via wireless router to internet

doesnt work, and i know why, but not sure how to fix it

so i go to settings and give the ps3 my wep code

the problem is the following, when i turn my router on with a wep code (security ofc) ON, the ps3 cant get through

when i turn my router on with wep code OFF (so no security) i can go to every website in the world

so basically, why doesnt my ps3 connect to the internet with wep code on? and yes i have registered the mac adress + wep code + whatever... lots of peeps have this prob...no answer as of yet...
