I use it to watch DVD's as I've mis-placed my intervideo DVD codec CD thingy that came with my GFX card. I find that the colour balance is often a bit weird though, kind of dark red. Only with DVD's though, not avi etc.
The server part of its great though, means I can watch a DVD wirelessly on my laptop when the disc is in the desktop on the other side of the house (computer chair ftl when watching films  ).

vlc's good....but bsplayer is better...
